Technique of the Week: Arm Triangle
The arm triangle is a submission chokehold that can be utilized from a side mount position. The choke consists of the opponent’s arm restricting one side of the neck, while your arm restricts the other side of the neck. Essentially, in order for this choke to work, one of your opponent’s arm must be trapped, just like one arm is trapped for a triangle choke, for instance.
- move your far
arm from the underhook position and wrap it around your opponent’s neck
- free the arm that is under their head, allowing your other arm to then grab your bicep
- assume the position of a rear naked choke hold around your opponent’s neck
- make sure to apply pressure with you head to the arm that is trapped, while simultaneously walking your legs towards their head and squeezing your arms
